Residential Youth Worker

About CatholicCare Tasmania’s Inspire@HOME Program

We are Tasmania’s only provider for Therapeutic Residential Care for young people aged 12-18, who are referred to us by Child Safety Services. We provide 24/7 therapeutic residential support and inspire our young people through ‘living-learning’ experiences to enhance their independent living skills at every opportunity.

Some of our young people may have come from a traumatic background, however we are there to support them in a therapeutic environment. You will be professionally trained as part of your induction, to understand the needs of clients in environments such as these.

We have a number of casual positions available at our Hobart residential sites. No experience necessary, although we are looking for people who:

  • Have a genuine passion for helping others
  • Know how to provide a safe and supporting environment for our young people and create fun lifelong experiences for them, while in our care
  • Understand the nature of Child Safety Residential Youth Work, with the ability to work within a 24/7 roster, and
  • Maintain sound ICT skills to complete daily case notes, administration tasks and incident reports, in accordance with legislative requirements.

Essential Requirements

All successful candidates must provide a:

  • Evidence of current vaccination against COVID-19
  • Satisfactory National Police Check (check result within 12 months and type Schedule 1)
  • Current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Card
  • Current Tasmanian driving licence, and
  • Current Provide First Aid training certificate or willing to obtain.
